AI Assistant
Ask a question. Get an answer with its sources.
Alma is the chat bubble in the corner of the app once you're signed in. Ask her something and she looks through your notes, Learning Hub sources and flashcards first. For medical questions she goes to PubMed. Answers come with citations. If nothing supports an answer, she says so.

Answers you can check
Medical statements come from your own sources or from PubMed, with references you can open. They don't come from memory. Here, the question about warfarin and the INR versus heparin and the aPTT gets a short answer and three PubMed citations. A web search is the last resort, and it's labeled as not peer-reviewed. Your 50 most recent chats are kept in the history.

She knows what you've been studying
Alma can use your exam and exam date, the cards that are due, the ones you miss most, your quiz results, the questions you got wrong and a snapshot of your weak topics. Where voice is on for your account, a call has four modes: Ask, Quiz me, My notes and Study coach. Quiz me asks you questions out loud from your own flashcards. My notes teaches you one of your notebooks in small pieces.

Help in the middle of a flashcard
While you review, Alma can see the card on screen, but not the answer until you flip it. The Ask Alma menu has Explain what this question is asking, Give me a hint without telling me the answer, and How should I think about a question like this. Under Change this card she can add a hint. After you flip, she can propose a fix to the wording or up to three new cards made from it. You see a before and after, and nothing changes until you accept.

See what Alma thinks you know
A page in your profile lists your topics, weakest first. Each has a label (Needs work, Getting there, Solid, or Not enough yet to judge) and a count of the answers and reviews behind it. After a few study sessions this account was tracking 14 topics from 20 study events, and most still said there wasn't enough to judge yet. It's an estimate, not a grade. You can remove notes Alma guessed about you, download your data, start over, or delete your learning data.

It's 6 a.m. on a clerkship and you've hit a drug interaction you've never heard of. Ask Alma. If you covered it, she answers from your notes. If you haven't, she answers from PubMed and lists the references. At night, Quiz me asks you questions out loud from your flashcards.

Before a practical exam, ask what your weak areas are. She answers from your quiz results and card reviews, not from a guess. When a card confuses you, ask her to explain what it's asking without giving the answer away.

A guideline question comes up on rounds. Ask it in your own words and you get an answer with references. Save the useful part in your notebook, and Alma will find it next time you ask.

Worth knowing before you start
- Medical statements come from your sources and PubMed, with citations. If nothing is found, Alma says so. A web search is used only when PubMed finds nothing, and it's labeled as not peer-reviewed.
- She can't open pages for you yet, and she can't see your Books activity or your Games streak.
- On a paid plan, each change Alma proposes to a flashcard uses some of your monthly AI flashcard allowance. Chatting and voice don't.
- Voice has its own monthly minutes, and calls run up to 15 minutes. If you don't see the voice-wave button, voice isn't switched on for your account. Typing works the same way.
- Your questions and notes aren't used to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
Common questions
Where does Alma get her answers?
From your own notes, Learning Hub sources and flashcards, and from PubMed for medical questions, with the references shown. If PubMed finds nothing she may use a web search, and she labels the result as not peer-reviewed. If nothing is found at all, she says so.
Can I talk to Alma instead of typing?
Yes, where voice is on for your account. The voice-wave button starts a spoken call in the browser, with four modes: Ask, Quiz me, My notes and Study coach. A call lasts up to 15 minutes. Typing always works.
Can I see what Alma knows about me?
Yes. Under User Profile there's a What Alma knows about you page. It lists your topics with how sure Alma is, and lets you remove notes, download your data, start over or delete your learning data. Your flashcards, notes and quiz answers stay.
Does Alma see my flashcards while I study?
She sees the card on screen, and the answer only after you flip it. A Studying chip shows what she can see, and its cross turns that off.
